Phase3 Intro

Phase3 Intro

Phase 3 focuses on everything that happens after the panels and equipment are physically installed—the final steps that bring the system online, pass inspections, and get permission to operate. This stage closes out the project and transitions the homeowner from installation to active solar production.

Phase 3: Post‑Installation

Inspect, Connect & Activate

This phase ensures the system is safe, connected, and ready for utility approval. All wiring, breakers, grounding, and equipment connections are verified before the system is energized.

Commissioning Checklist

A technician or homeowner completes the final system checks:

  • Verify all breakers, disconnects, and wiring
  • Confirm inverter and monitoring equipment power up correctly
  • Ensure microinverters or string inverters report properly
  • Validate system settings match the design (voltage, CT orientation, phases, etc.)

This step ensures the system is technically sound before going online.

Wi‑Fi & Network Setup

Monitoring is activated so the system can report production data. This includes:

  • Connecting the inverter, Envoy, or gateway to the home’s Wi‑Fi
  • Verifying stable internet connection
  • Confirming devices appear in the monitoring platform
  • Ensuring production data is visible and updating

A successful network setup allows both the homeowner and support team to track system performance.

Inspections & PTO

The final step is utility and city approval:

  • Schedule and pass city or county inspection
  • Submit documents to the utility
  • Wait for PTO (Permission to Operate)
  • Once PTO is granted, the system can legally produce and export power to the grid

This is the official “green light” that activates full system operation.
