Hoymiles Smart Meter for HYS Hybrid Inverters
Hoymiles HYS Hybrid Inverters are designed to work seamlessly with a dedicated energy meter manufactured by Chint. This smart meter plays a crucial role in monitoring grid consumption and optimizing system performance. Below is a step-by-step overview of how to properly install and integrate the Chint meter with your Hoymiles inverter.
Powering the Chint Meter
To operate correctly, the Chint meter requires its own 2-pole dedicated breaker. This breaker should deliver both L1 and L2 phases, along with a neutral wire, into the bottom terminals of the meter.
- The power supply terminals are clearly labeled:
- L1 → Port 2
- L2 → Port 5
- N (Neutral) → Port 10
The CTs themselves, which monitor how much grid power is consumed, need the open ends to land on the top of the meter like this:

Now let's look at how the Chint meter plugs into the inverter itself:
We're tying into ports A and B on the meter, and these two wires connect to our inverter:
---> Then plug into ports 1 and 2 on the inverter communications board as shown above.
Mount a small section of DIN rail inside your main breaker panel and install the meter there.
A small box mounted next to the breaker panel would also work great, but would be unnecessary in some instances.
